Every organisation has expectations of its members. Every organisation will ask its members to do things that people outside the organisation are not invited to do. This makes good sense because there will be people who belong and people who do not belong to those organisations.
The church that Jesus established welcomes all people. No matter your past, no matter your status, no matter your colour, you are welcome to visit the church. Indeed, you can even belong to a local church and enjoy that community.
However, to truly belong to the church means to trust first in Jesus. How do we show that we trust in Jesus? The Bible lays out for us several ways to do this, and two of them we will discuss today – baptism and communion. Why do we do these things?
