The invitation Jesus gives is “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. But before he gives this invitation, he lays down a severe warning for those who have heard and seen him but have rejected him. And this isn’t like ignoring a Facebook invitation. No! This was seeing Jesus and his mighty works, but still rejecting him and all he stands for. These towns will be going, and now they are gone.
