We read about people and decide, “I want to be like that!” Or, we decide, “I don’t want to be like that!!” In this chapter from Matthew’s gospel, we see the way some of the religious leaders are acting and conclude “I don’t want to be like that.”
Fortunately, Jesus also shows us that he is not like that. He fulfills the words of Isaiah the prophet who saw the Messiah to be much gentler than these Pharisees had become. Don’t become a Pharisee like this.
