What does it mean to be an authentic Christian? There are many sections of the Bible that can help to answer this question – and it takes the whole Bible to truly answer it properly – and the section known as ‘the sermon on the mount’ is certainly one of these. The focus of this sermon is from Matthew 5:13-16.

What will being authentic look like? Jesus uses two images to help us when he says, “You are the salt of the earth” and “You are the light of the world”. In many ways this imagery is so clear that we might not need to explain it. But it is worth speaking about. We should be aware of the context of these words, and to hear this in the context of our lives today.

We hope that watching this today will help your faith in Christ Jesus to be tasty (salt) and to be seen (light) by those around you.
