In 1 Samuel chapter 18 we see that Saul is scared of David and seeks to destroy him. In the second part of the chapter he does this in a careful and calculating manner. But when we come to chapter 19, the curtain is lifted and Saul is no longer worried about hiding his intentions to destroy David. His family don’t support him in this and it is son and daughter who work against him, and rightly so. Perhaps David is starting to doubt the promise given to him by Samuel that he would be king. So he escapes Saul and finds Samuel. Sometimes we just need to reconnect with a wise friend.
