How can we know what a father is meant to be? Obviously one way is to look at our own fathers and use them as an example. But it’s unlikely any of us have a perfect father. We could read books or listen to podcasts that tell us what a good father is meant to look like, after all there’s always something to learn. But keep in mind, twenty years from now someone will write a book explaining why everything in the book you’ve just read is dangerous – so that’s not a perfect solution.

What we need to do is find a Father who really is perfect, a Father who understands compassion and discipline, when to give and when to hold back, a Father who gives everything there is to give. Fortunately, we do know such a Father.

In this sermon, Brian is taking the words of a prayer found in the letter to the Ephesians to show what this Father will do.

Ephesians 3:14-21
